Not so much of dub reggae here, though the general vibe is there. Jazzy elements, african voices partly haunting partly joyious. Provides a gentle warmth that lightens up this rainy day.

Mondkuchen - Mooncake

A compilation from the fabulos Phoncake-label to finish 2007 and to start off into 2008. It's all there: Projects with interestings names like "Graues Neutral" (grey neutral), "Noise-Beyond-Silence" or "Tinitus" - promising track titles like "Elektromuell" (electronic waste), "Mondkuchen" (Mooncake) or "Vulva". Blinks and blops, sad melodies and fresh beats. Absolutely my favorite compilation for the wait until springtime lights me up.

Haushaltswaren

No, this is not about Dieters and my one-off project from nearly 30 years ago, but i found this treasures when googling for it.

Imagine you're lonesome, bored and start producing sounds with some paper-clips. Record it, filter it, destroy it, maybe sequence it. Got the concept? The guys over at Haushaltsware run a netlabel with a couple of release based on this idea.

This is sad not primarly for the sounds/music that are in no way funny, it is sad because of it's reason of existence.

Robert Anton Wilson was the man who taught a whole generation of freaks to have an open mind and to look at everything from an unusal angle, to say it in his words: he taught us to see the FNORDs. He made me think of conspriacy theories of good but trappy intellectual fun.
When he escaped to a higher dimension a year ago we lost an important brain.

Fattoria Del Vento

Fattoria del Vento - The Farm of Winds is an italian project. Sparse instrumentation, interesting athmospheric crackles and ambient noises add up to an melancholic still postive soundtrack for these pre-spring days.

What made me come up with the phrase 'sad noise' that turned into the name for my mini-label as 'sadnoiss' was the music of this guy:

Well I don't like writing what has been written already, you will find all about this young genious on either his website or his myspace-page

I don't know what exactly appealed to me and I am not a man of words to describe eloquently what is simple: Beautiful and moving.

Hope Street

This one really blew me away. Track 03 "stella, we're sorry" brought up pictures of some post-apocalyptic setting in my mind - don't know if this was intented.

I am someone who wants new stuff all the time. Surfing through the world of netlabel gives me a chance to find more new music than two ears can bear with. This blog is an attempt to hint to some of my findings I would like to promote.
